Trash Cans Competitively Bid?

According the Fluke during the debate last night, the infamous trash cans actually were selected through a competitive bid process, which goes quite contrary to most of the reporting while the whole thing was going down (for example, http://www.pittsburghlive.com/x/pittsburghtrib/news/mostread/s_612717.html).

This brings up an interesting point.  I assumed that the trash cans were examples of cronyism and political favor making, but if the mayor’s comments last night are true, I was wrong.  Apparently they were part of a competitive bid process where it was determined that $1000 per can was the best deal.

A wise person told me a while ago to always assume incompetence before conspiracy, and that seems to be the case here.

Hey Fluke, I have a bridge I want to tell you about…

According to the PG, another mayoral debate has been called off. Apparently the Fluke folks say there’s no room in the schedule for another one, so the one and only debate will occur on May 4th.

Let’s see if Fluke makes time for anything else in the upcoming weeks.  Celebrity hobnobbing, perhaps?
